Nike partners with (RED)™ In The Fight Against HIV/AIDS In Africa

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Something interesting dropped in my inbox recently. A representative from Integrated Marketing Solutions Group (IMSG), a PR agency for Nike Singapore, has alerted me to Nike’s partnership with (RED)™.

The goal of (RED)™ is to eradicate HIV/AIDS from Africa, which anyone will admit, is a very daunting task. Not only has Nike pledged their support, but other corporations as well, such as Apple, Bugaboo, Converse, Dell, Emporio Armani, Gap, Hallmark and Starbucks. A percentage of the products that bear the (RED)™ symbol goes to The Global Fund, which finances programs that supports the lives of people affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa. One can also make a direct contribution here.

Another way to contribute is to drop by the Nike Flagship Store at Wisma Atria any time you’re free and purchase a set of (Nike)RED laces for S$7. 100% profit from sales of (Nike)RED laces will be donated to the cause. This way, you do help in some small part and get yourself a new pair of spanking red laces too. Which would definitely look awesome on your boots (mine’s gathering dust).

Lace up. Save lives.

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Continuing from my previous post,

f(n+1) = “I will love my wife on Date(n) + 1 additional day”

So do I still love my wife a day later from yesterday, meaning today? Yes I do! So, f(n+1) is proven.

Proof That I Will Always Love My Wife (Part 1)

Or at least, ’til the day I die anyway. (Maybe I should have done this when I married her, but well, better late than never!)

To prove that I will always love my wife, let us first define the function Date(n) which will take in an integer value 1 or more and return a date.

Day = Date(n), where Date(1) returns today, Date(2) returns tomorrow, etc.

Now let us define the statement “I will always love my wife”.

Ubisoft: Is it about piracy anymore?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

There has been a lot of flak on the web about AC2’s DRM system. When it was first announced, everybody went “They can’t be serious!”. And when it did actually come out, people just stopped and pooped in their pants. “They ARE serious!”

Just a small recap of the DRM system that Ubisoft is using:

  • Permanent Persistent and consistent online connection required.
  • Game pauses if connection is disrupted.

See Ubisoft’s official page to read more. A reviewer managed to see and experience first-hand the benefits/meh/horror, as viewed by the publisher/developer/player respectively, of such a system.
