Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

If you’re a gamer who haven’t heard the name Johnny Lee, you have to come out from under that rock you’re in.
Johnny Lee become famous for his youtube video on turning Nintendo Wii remote controller into a head-tracking device. Apparently, that one video sealed his reputation for making incredible innovative devices out of everyday objects, [...]

Enjoy!

I don’t care if this is not indicative of the gameplay or tramples on any existing Star Wars lore, it is pure awesomeness to see that many Sith lords.
Update: the video might not show up in feed readers. You’ll have to click through to see.

Far Cry 2 Impressions

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Recently, GamersGate.com had a Ubisoft 50% sale. I was perusing the games on sale and I saw that Far Cry 2 was marked down to US$14.95. Taking a liberal US$1=S$1.55, I calculated it should cost me about $23. Not a bad price I must say. It’s still retailing around S$60 and 2nd hand sales still [...]

Freaky PS3 Commercials (And Other Stuff)

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Maybe this is why the PS3 isn’t selling as well as other consoles. Sony can’t make a commercial to save its own ass.
This Rubik’s Cube thing was a little wierd:

Ok, maybe I get the part where twiddling the sixaxis controller would move the eggs. But transforming them into crows when they smash against the wall [...]

Eschalon Book 1 Impressions

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

I have tried out a demo of Eschalon Book 1 (EB1) quite some time ago, and have been quite impressed with it. It was on my to-buy list for a long time now. Suddenly, I saw that there was a 20% discount over at Rampant Games blog. I’ve also been contemplating what game to purchase [...]

Sales Numbers VS Return Of Investment

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Gamasutra has a nice news article on PC gaming recently. It correctly points out:
Its real-time collaboration Sins of a Solar Empire was one of 2008’s most impressive success stories; its 500,000 units may seem piddly at first glance compared to big console blockbusters, but its sub-$1 million budget puts that figure in a completely different [...]

Rediscovering: Tropico

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Tropico (first released in 2001) is basically a strategy management game. I am a huge fan of these type of games by the way. Tropico lets you become a dictator of a tropical island, managing each aspect of the island, from courting aid from US or Russia to providing jobs and housing for your citizens.
One [...]

Weekend Sale From Impulse And GOG!

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Temptation is around this weekend.
First, Impulse is having a sale.

I wouldn’t mind picking up Gish or Kudos 2 (wait, I already have Kudos 2). However, the sale looks a bit more subdued than the previous one.
GOG.com is also enticing me with their weekend RPG discount.
Welcome mighty mages, brave warriors and skillful rangers. This weekend [...]

Cliff Harris Offers Free Copies Of Democracy 2 To Real-Life Politicians

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Humanitarian attempt? Or ingenious marketing ploy?
Are you a politician? a candidate for real political office? an MP in the UK? A Senator or member of the House of Representatives in the US? or the equivalent anywhere in the world? If so, I…a humble games programmer from the UK would like to give you a free [...]

Best Selling Game Of All Time: Wii Sports

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

According to VGChartz.com, the best selling game of all time is now Wii Sports, whose count is at 45 million and counting. It surpassed the previous record set by Super Mario Bros., which sold about 40.24 million units.
Looks like Nintendo has found a winning formula to sell that many games. The common denominator [...]
